Overview

Fawzya joined the Firm as a Legal Associate, with a wealth of experience in Land Litigation, Matrimonial Causes, Probate and Administration of Estates.

 

She has previously worked with the Medico-Legal Experts Practice (TMLEP), UK as a screening agent where she acquired an invaluable client service approach to medical negligence. She undertook extensive research on medical negligence cases and drafted detailed reports to be presented to a panel of medical experts.

 

Since joining the Firm, Fawzya has broadened her areas of expertise to include: Corporate Governance, Regulatory Compliance, Commercial Transactions and Employment and Immigration.

 

She is well-versed in Company Law and has advised clients of the Firm on the implications of the new law governing companies in Ghana.

 

She worked as part of the core team of the Firm to produce the OBG Ghana Report 2020 – Legal Chapter, which contains an analysis of the new corporate governance regime.

 

Fawzya has advised major players in the renewable energy and petroleum sectors on licensing requirements, corporate restructuring and local content compliance.

 

She has also conducted due diligence on behalf of clients operating in sectors such as construction and infrastructure and advised on the formation of joint ventures. Fawzya has drafted and reviewed a number of agreements and documents including employment contracts, Human Resource Policies, loan agreements, service contract agreements and construction contracts in line with FIDIC.

 

Fawzya is passionate about providing real-time solutions to the problems of clients. She has played a pivotal role in the incorporation and structuring of international organisations seeking to enter the Ghanaian market and provides company secretarial services to clients.

 

She brings a unique legal perspective to the Firm with her background experience from the United States, the United Kingdom and Ghana.

 

Fawzya has a certificate in Intellectual Property from Harvard Law School, Boston, USA.

 

Fawzya is a Member of the Ghana Bar Association. She speaks fluent Arabic.
