2025 B&P Associates Pro Bono Week Celebration

2025 B&P Associates Pro Bono Week Celebration

At B&P Associates, we are committed to empowering our community and mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. This year, as we have done for the past three years, we successfully organized the 2025 edition of our Pro Bono Week Celebrations, which was held in the first week of March.

The Pro Bono Week Celebrations commenced on Tuesday, 4th March 2025, with a Community Legal Outreach program which was dubbed, “Sextortion: A Growing Threat to our Wellbeing & Safety Online”. The aim of this initiative was to raise awareness about sexual extortion (sextortion) and the danger it poses, particularly to young people. Our team of Associates namely, Audrey Nana Oye Addy, Christian Konadu Odame, Maame Afia Frimponmaa Dwira and Ernest Kofi Boateng and a legal intern, Fendy Sedinam Apeagyei gave an insightful presentation on sexual extortion to the high school students of the Association Community Basic School and the St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, equipping them with knowledge to identify, prevent and report sextortion attempts.

On Friday, 7th March 2025, we hosted a Legal Clinic and Career Guidance Panel Discussion dubbed “Beyond the Bar: Exploring Diverse Career Paths for Law Graduates”. This event was organized to provide students with valuable insights into the realities of legal practice and the career opportunities that exist beyond traditional legal practice. Law students from Central University, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Mountcrest University College, University of Ghana-Legon, University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) and Wisconsin International University participated in the event.

The speakers at the event, Ms. Atchere Asuah-Kwasi, Director of Operations at the Institute for African Women in Law and Mr. Frederick Abu-Bonsrah, Legal Counsel of KwameAI, led a lively and interactive discussion. They encouraged the students to consider non-traditional legal roles such as working with non-profit organizations, which would enable them to use their legal expertise for social impact. They also emphasized the importance of staying updated on global legal trends to seize emerging opportunities, the need for adaptability in legal careers and the benefits of exploring uncharted areas of law

The event concluded with a Speed Networking Exercise and a CV Review Session, where members of our firm provided tailored advice to students on resume building and positioning themselves for success in the legal job market.

The Pro Bono Week Celebrations concluded with a media engagement on sextortion on Sunday, 9th March 2025. Our Managing Partner, Adelaide Benneh Prempeh, together with Nelson Herald Darko, a Senior Manager of the Child Online Protection Department of the Cyber Security Authority, appeared as guests on Joy News’ legal education show, “The Law”, hosted by Samson Anyenini.  They engaged in a panel discussion on “Sextortion and Securing Online Safety for Children”. The discussion provided key insights into sextortion, educating parents on identifying risk factors and equipping them with strategies to safeguard their children from online exploitation.

B&P Associates is dedicated to making meaningful contributions to society through our corporate social responsibility initiatives. Our Pro Bono Week activities reflect our ongoing mission to positively impact the younger generation and empower our community. The success of these initiatives fuels our commitment to creating long-term social change through education, mentorship, and legal advocacy.
