In 2024, Ghana’s Parliament took a monumental step by enacting the Affirmative Action Act, a pivotal move aimed at addressing gender disparity and establishing specific targets, including the ambitious goal of achieving 50% gender equity by 2034. The success of this landmark legislation relies not only on its provisions but also on our collective mindset and commitment to effective implementation.
At B&P ASSOCIATES, Lawyers & Consultants, we are proud to be part of this transformative journey. We are pleased to announce our formal adoption of the #IAWL Gender Equality in Law (GEL) Model Policy. This well-researched policy, produced by the IAWL ~ Institute for African Women in Law, serves as a guiding framework for organizations across Africa, fostering gender-sensitive and inclusive work environments.
Recently, we had the honour of welcoming the IAWL team, led by Executive Director, J. Jarpa Dawuni Esq., Ph.D., for a signing ceremony. Our Managing Partner, Adelaide Benneh Prempeh, extended a warm welcome to the team and expressed our firm commitment to IAWL’s mission of promoting gender equality within the legal community. She underscored that our dedication goes beyond mere compliance; it’s about creating a workplace where every individual—especially women—can thrive and fulfill their potential.
The signing ceremony represented a significant milestone for B&P Associates. As our Firm and the IAWL signed the adoption certificate, we reaffirmed our commitment to uphold high standards and lead the charge toward a more inclusive legal profession.
